The Postal Service began 2016 by once again demonstrating its ability to deliver for customers, no matter what Mother Nature has up her sleeve.
Throughout the winter, employees kept the mail moving despite a blockbuster blizzard in the East, heavy snow in the Midwest and drenching rains in the West.
It was also a time to strengthen the organization.
In February, USPS conducted the year’s first Postal Pulse survey, which helps measure employee engagement.
Later, at the National Postal Forum in March, PMG Megan J. Brennan highlighted the organization’s efforts to lead a technology-driven reinvention of mail.
“There are limitless opportunities when we combine the power of mail with the ubiquity of mobile,” she said.
Other speakers at the forum addressed delivery innovations and the Postal Service’s use of data and analytics.
The spirit of innovation continued with the introduction of Link mobile, a mobile-friendly version of the Link daily news service.
Winter concluded on a historic note when the United States and Cuba resumed regular mail service after 50 years.
Coming next: Link’s four-part review of 2016 continues with springtime efforts to stamp out hunger, prevent dog bites and celebrate stamps.
