USPS will hold virtual fairs for sales jobs
The events will show how to find and apply for open positions
The Postal Service will hold two virtual job fairs for sales positions this month.
The events are part of the organization’s efforts to expand its sales force and align sales strategies with new operational capabilities to drive revenue, one of the goals of the Delivering for America plan.
Topics to be covered during the fairs include:
• The roles and responsibilities of territory representatives and senior territory representatives;
• The number and locations of vacancies spanning 20 Postal Service districts;
• How to navigate the USPS Careers online page and create an eCareer profile; and
• How to effectively respond to knowledge, skills and abilities questions to demonstrate your qualifications.
The fairs are open to both career and noncareer employees and will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern on Sunday, Sept. 29, and Monday, Sept. 30.
To participate in a fair, employees must complete an online registration form on LiteBlue or Blue by clicking on the “Looking for a career in Sales?” banner. A list of districts with sales vacancies will be listed on the registration page.
All participants must be current Postal Service employees and attend while off the clock. Participation is voluntary.
He’s just clowning around
This letter carrier delivers joy and laughter in his role as a performer
My name is Jerry Loney. As a letter carrier in Topeka, KS, I deliver the mail. In my role as a freelance clown, I deliver joy and laughter.
After college, a friend suggested that I get into theater. I learned to juggle to audition for the role of the clown Touchstone in the Shakespeare play “As You Like It.” Then a local camera shop had a circus photo fair, and I agreed to be a clown for the weekend for $150.
On May 6, 1983, J.R. Juggles the Clown was born.
More than 40 years later, I juggle, do magic and twist animal balloons for events. Somebody who comes to the show might feel depressed, so for 45 minutes I’m telling jokes and taking away the sadness.
I went on a mission trip to New Orleans six months after Hurricane Katrina hit. I took my clown nose with me and offered to help. On another mission trip, I helped rebuild houses in western Kansas after a town was devastated by a tornado. I like to bring joy and laughter while helping people.
In 2033, I plan to give a free show to the city of Topeka to celebrate J.R. Juggles’ 50th anniversary.
I’ve been a carrier for about two years. At age 64, I was hired as a city carrier assistant. Most of my customers know me, and I always try to give them a kind word.
I plan to work for the Postal Service for another 10 years or so, but I have no plans to stop being a clown.
Clowning is a serious job. Every person who hires me is my boss. Every show is different. I’ve also got to be quick because my magic tricks fail sometimes. So I say, “Oh, I’m just clowning around.”

PSHB virtual seminar
USPS employees and annuitants may participate in an upcoming virtual seminar on the new Postal Service Health Benefits (PSHB) Program.

PSHB — which takes effect in 2025 — is a new, separate program within the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program and will be administered by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.
USPS employees, annuitants, and eligible family members are required to enroll in this new program.
The MyHR website’s PSHB page has more information, including the Zoom links and passcodes to participate. To find the page, enter “Postal Service Health Benefits” in the MyHR search bar.
Participation is voluntary. Nonexempt employees must be off the clock or on authorized breaks.
Employees can also receive updates by texting “PSHBP” to 39369.
‘Medicare + FEHB Program’
Editor’s note: The “Medicare + FEHB Program” webinar scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 3, has been canceled.
Postal Service employees may participate in an upcoming webinar that will examine how Medicare works with the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) Program.
The session, “Medicare + FEHB Program,” will be held Thursday, Oct. 3, from 1 to 2 p.m. Eastern.
Representatives from GEHA, a provider of health plans for federal employees, will lead the discussion.
Participants must register before the event on the webinar website.
Participation is voluntary. Nonexempt employees must be off the clock or on authorized breaks.
Employees who have questions can email the USPS Benefits and Wellness team.

Central Area, Pennsylvania 1 District lead in scanning
A snapshot of Postal Service scanning data shows the national rating was 97.35 percent during the week ending Sept. 20, down 0.33 percent from one week earlier.
The data was collected Sept. 25.
Central led the four areas with a rating of 97.65 percent, while Southern ranked last with a 96.63 percent rating.
Among the 50 districts, Pennsylvania 1, part of Atlantic Area, ranked first with a 98.33 percent rating, while Georgia, part of Southern Area, ranked last with a 94.68 percent rating.
Scanning data allows customers to track their mail and packages, which helps USPS deliver excellent service, boost loyalty and drive revenue.
To see the latest data, go to the Informed Visibility website and select “Customer Experience,” followed by “DES 2 Scan Performance.” Postal Service employees must request Informed Visibility access through eAccess.
