Postal Pulse survey begins
USPS will use employees’ feedback to make improvements
The next Postal Pulse employee survey will run from Tuesday, Aug. 6, through Friday, Sept. 13.
The annual survey allows employees to share observations about their work environments, providing the organization with valuable feedback to make improvements.
This year’s survey is being administered by a new vendor, Perceptyx.
Beginning Aug. 6, employees with a USPS email address will receive a link to the survey website. The email address will be donotreply@perceptyx.com and the name will be Perceptyx.
Bargaining unit employees will receive a paper survey at their work location and time on the clock to complete it.
Survey participation is voluntary. Individual results are confidential; no one from the Postal Service sees individual responses. Combined results are reported when at least five people respond in a work group.
For more information, employees can go to the MyHR website and select “Postal Pulse Survey” under “About Human Resources” on the homepage.
He never misses the boat
This rural carrier relies on a ferry to deliver part of his route
My name is Larry Wilson and I’m a rural carrier in Tompkinsville, KY.
After I pick up mail and packages from the local Post Office and load my postal vehicle, I board the Cumberland River Ferry to reach 43 of the 465 delivery points on my route. I ride almost daily, between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m.
The ferry is state-operated and runs 24 hours a day. I have gotten to know the boat’s captain well. I also get to enjoy the beauty of the river and its wildlife.
The part of the Cumberland River that I travel rarely floods. The water level is controlled by the nearby Wolf Creek Dam.
I can only recall one time the ferry closed for an extended period. It was many years ago when the ferry needed major repairs and did not operate for about 30 days. During that time, I still delivered the mail three times a week to those customers that I can only reach by ferry. My detour took me through Tennessee, and it took an extra hour and a half each way.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family which includes three children and four grandchildren. I live on a farm with my wife, Terri Lynn, where we enjoy hunting and riding ATVs.
I joined the Postal Service in 1985 and I have delivered this same route for my 39-year career. I have lived in Tompkinsville pretty much my whole life and I know I play an important role in delivering mail to customers throughout my community.
“On the Job,” a column on individual employees and their contributions to the Postal Service, appears regularly in Link.
PSHB virtual seminar
USPS employees may participate in an upcoming virtual seminar on the new Postal Service Health Benefits (PSHB) Program.
The session will be held Tuesday, Aug. 13, from noon to 1 p.m. Eastern.
PSHB — which takes effect in 2025 — is a new, separate program within the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program and will be administered by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.
USPS employees, annuitants, and eligible family members are required to enroll in this new program.
The MyHR website’s PSHB page has more information, including the Zoom links and passcodes to participate. To find the page, enter “Postal Service Health Benefits” in the MyHR search bar.
Participation is voluntary. Nonexempt employees must be off the clock or on authorized breaks.
Employees can also receive updates by texting “PSHBP” to 39369.
