This plant supervisor nurtures teamwork

My name is Cameron Larsen and I’m a distribution operations supervisor at the Salt Lake City Processing and Distribution Center.

I’m one of six supervisors at the plant. It’s a big effort. We need to keep on our toes to make sure we get everything processed to go out for delivery.

I’m on tour 3, which means I work from 4 p.m. into the early hours of the morning. I divvy the assignments and monitor how everything is going — if there are any issues with machines, or if a clerk calls in sick, I do some juggling to make sure everything is covered.

It’s hard work but well worth it.

I started with USPS in 2021 as a mail handler. My co-workers told me I had a positive attitude. It helps a lot when you work with people in a good mood. It makes things a little easier.

I was born in Utah, grew up in California and then moved back. It’s a beautiful place. When I’m not at work, I like to hang out with my brothers and sisters and go hiking and snowboarding. I also bowl, play softball and fish — winter or summer.

My only regret is that I didn’t join the Postal Service sooner.

I’m especially enjoying my new role as a supervisor. It’s a new challenge.

If someone is having a bad day, I always try to talk with them, help them have a little bit better of a day. And if someone is slowing down or needs help, I try to work with them.

We’re here to be a team, to get a job done, and the way we get it done is teamwork.

“On the Job,” a column on individual employees and their contributions to the Postal Service, appears regularly in Link.
