USPS marching toward Informed Delivery goal

Through the Sprint to 10 Million Challenge, USPS wants to reach 10 million Informed Delivery users by May 6.

Postal Service employees across the nation are helping the organization move closer to its goal of reaching 10 million Informed Delivery users.

Informed Delivery allows consumers to digitally preview their incoming mail and manage their packages from computers, tablets and mobile devices. The free feature is a major component of the Postal Service’s strategy to add value to the mail.

Through the Sprint to 10 Million Challenge, the organization wants to reach 10 million Informed Delivery users by Sunday, May 6, when this year’s National Postal Forum begins. So far, Informed Delivery has more than 9.5 million users.

One focus of the challenge: Encouraging employees themselves to sign up.

“When employees learn more about Informed Delivery, they see how to plan and manage mail right from their phone,” said Connie Blakesley, support manager at the USPS Human Resources Shared Services Center.

The Greensboro, NC-based center recently signed up more than 200 employees at an Informed Delivery Day event that featured Informed Delivery “ambassadors” who educated and enrolled co-workers.

Similar events were held at two central Pennsylvania plants — the Lehigh Valley Processing and Distribution Center and the Harrisburg Processing and Distribution Center — where almost 100 employees signed up.

Individual employees are doing their part, too.

Desai Abdul-Razzaaq, an acting business development specialist at Southern Area’s Suncoast District office, recently created a picture of his co-workers holding smartphones with Informed Delivery display screens.

The picture is being displayed throughout the facility, along with links to, where employees can sign up. Sign-up is voluntary.

Said Abdul-Razzaaq: “The best way to promote Informed Delivery is by using it yourself.”
