Every year brings opportunities for USPS to demonstrate exceptional customer service — and 2016 was no different.
Employees kept the mail moving through winter snowstorms, summer wildfires and other bad weather.
Employees also delivered during Tax Day in the spring and Election Day in the fall.
It was also a year for special service.
For example, after a Sioux Falls, SD, employee discovered a 58-year-old letter that was written by a woman who recently died, Dakotas District Manager Doug Stephens and Sr. Plant Manager Marty Chavez hand-delivered the message to her sister.
Yellow Springs, OH, Postmaster Kenneth Hensley and Mail Recovery Center Clerk Kim Wright also tracked down missing mailpieces for grateful customers.
Elsewhere, Shane Roush, a customer services supervisor in Athens, OH, and Brandon Cheek, a retail associate in Santa Barbara, CA, fulfilled a French child’s request for U.S. stamps.
Customers noticed exemplary employees.
One woman penned a note praising a Waite Park, MN, trio, while Kerry Williams, a Nashville, TN, retail associate, was praised on social media.
“That’s what I’m here for — to serve the customers and treat them like family,” Williams said.
