Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens, a natural oasis in Washington, DC, will be showcased on the 11th National Park Service stamp.
The image, which USPS released April 18, shows one of the park’s large sacred lotus plants. Despite its urban surroundings, the park’s tranquil aquatic garden is home to a wide variety of wildlife.
The stamp will be one of 16 on a pane that commemorates the National Park Service’s 100th anniversary. USPS is revealing the images in alphabetical order in April.
Acadia National Park, Arches National Park, Assateague Island National Seashore, Bandelier National Monument, Carlsbad Caverns National Park, Everglades National Park, Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, Grand Canyon National Park, Gulf Islands National Seashore and Haleakalā National Park stamps have been previewed so far.
The full pane will be dedicated June 2 at the World Stamp Show in New York City.
Individuals are asked to spread the news on social media using the hashtags #NPSStamps, #FindYourPark and #NPS100.
