USPS Operation Santa is open for letter adoption
The program spotlights family wish lists and offers a new team option to help
USPS Operation Santa officially opened for letter adoption on Nov. 17, with the program urging participants to consider fulfilling family wish lists this season.
“Every year, we receive far more letters than those adopting, so if you have the means, we encourage you to adopt a letter,” said Sheila Holman, the Postal Service’s marketing vice president. “And this year, we’re making it easier for groups to adopt family letters — making the holidays brighter for everyone in a household. And they’re fun and easy to complete with friends or co-workers.”
The new team option works like this: A team “admin” invites people to fulfill a family’s wishes. Each teammate claims the letter that speaks to them. Any unclaimed letters are adopted by the admin to make sure each person’s wishes are granted.
Another assist: An expanded Santa’s Gift Shoppe, the program’s online catalog, powered by Toys R Us. The catalog offers letter adopters a quick, easy way to find age-appropriate gifts, streamlines shipping and is a boon to those who want to fulfill multiple letters — including family letters — in one session.
“You can adopt single or family letters as a team, shop for the perfect gift quickly and easily online, and get gifts delivered directly from Santa’s Gift Shoppe, all from the comfort and convenience of home,” Holman said.
More information is available on the USPS Operation Santa website.
Letters to Santa should be postmarked no later than Saturday, Dec. 6. Letter adopters should send gifts by Saturday, Dec. 13.

Flexible spending accounts could save you money
Employees can sign up for this option during open season
Flexible spending accounts, or FSAs, allow employees to set aside money on a pretax basis to pay for health care and dependent care expenses.
USPS employees can enroll in an FSA during this year’s open season, which runs through Monday, Dec. 8.
Inspira Financial is the administrator of the Postal Service’s FSA program.
For out-of-pocket expenses, employees may:
• Pay themselves back with FSA funds when they use cash, check or a personal credit card for eligible expenses;
• Pay a provider directly from their FSA account; or
• Use an Inspira debit card.
The maximum carryover amount for FSAs this year is $660. This means that if an employee has money left in their FSA at the end of 2025, they can carry over up to $660 for use in the next year if they re-enroll in the FSA program for 2026.
To learn more about FSAs, employees should go to the MyHR website’s FSA page. Employees can enroll in an FSA from that page or through the employee apps page on LiteBlue.
Employees who have questions can call Inspira at 833-419-0305, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Central, and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Central.
