The Postal Service’s latest TV ad takes viewers on a ‘Holiday Ride’

New delivery vehicles and USPS Ground Advantage are showcased in the spot

The Postal Service’s new holiday TV ad began airing Nov. 6.

The 30-second commercial, titled “The Holiday Ride,” shows employees accepting packages in a Post Office, charging up new electric delivery vehicles and delivering a USPS Ground Advantage package.

“Over 600,000 USPS employees working in sync to ensure everything sent on its holiday ride ends with a moment of joy,” a narrator says.

The new commercial is part of a campaign that also includes mailpieces and print ads.

Delivering a safe holiday season

The Inspection Service has tips to avoid being scammed

The Postal Inspection Service will kick off its “Don’t Get Snowed by Holiday Scams” campaign on Thursday, Nov. 7.

The agency is encouraging employees and customers to:

Avoid fake postage websites. Letters and packages with counterfeit postage will be returned to their senders. Legal postage can only be purchased at Post Offices or from approved vendors.

Ignore “delivery failure notification” emails or texts. These are smishing and phishing scams. Delete the message and do not click on any links they contain.

Secure delivery of packages and mail. Either have trusted friends or neighbors pick up your delivered items or use one of the Postal Service’s delivery options, such as having your mail held at a Post Office if you are going to be out of town.

The agency is also reminding postal employees to get to a place of safety and call 911 if they see someone acting suspiciously or if they are approached by someone with nefarious intentions. Employees should also contact the Inspection Service at 877-876-2455 to report any incidents.

“Our message to Postal Service employees is this: Your safety is your most important delivery, during the holidays and all year long,” said Chief Postal Inspector Gary Barksdale.

More information and tips are available on the Inspection Service’s website.

Veterans Day is next week

The annual holiday honors those who’ve served in the military

Veterans Day, a national holiday that honors people who have served in the armed forces, is Monday, Nov. 11.

The holiday originated as Armistice Day on Nov. 11, 1919, marking the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and Nov. 11 became a national holiday in 1938.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed legislation in 1954 to change the name to Veterans Day to honor all those who served in American wars.

There were 16.2 million veterans in the United States in 2022, according to the most recent U.S. Census data.

The Postal Service will honor active military and veteran employees from all branches of service with a certificate of appreciation to mark Veterans Day.
