Among the entrants in the Postal Service’s Stamp Encore contest were several releases featuring Disney characters.

Last summer, USPS customers voted for their favorite stamps issued between 2001 and 2021.

The Postal Service will reissue the winning release — which will remain top secret until May — as part of the organization’s 250th anniversary celebration.

In the run-up to the big reveal at the Boston 2026 World Expo philatelic show, the USPS Stamps Forever website is exploring some of the 25 releases in the contest.

The first installment in the “Stamp Encore Celebration” series spotlights the contest’s Disney releases:

• 2007’s Art of Disney: Magic, featuring Mickey Mouse as the Sorcerer’s Apprentice from “Fantasia,” Peter Pan and Tinker Bell from “Peter Pan,” the Genie and Aladdin from “Aladdin” and Dumbo with Timothy Mouse from “Dumbo”;

• 2011’s Send a Hello collection, featuring Pixar’s Lightning McQueen and Mater from “Cars,” Remy and Linguini from “Ratatouille,” Carl Fredricksen and Dug from “Up,” Buzz Lightyear and aliens from “Toy Story” and the titular robot in “WALL*E”;

• 2012’s Mail a Smile, featuring Pixar’s Flik and Dot from “A Bug’s Life,” Incredible and Dash from “The Incredibles,” Nemo and Squirt from “Finding Nemo,” Woody and Jessie from “Toy Story 2” and Boo, Mike and Sulley from “Monsters, Inc.”;

• 2017’s Disney Villains, with the Evil Queen from “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” Honest John from “Pinocchio,” Lady Tremaine from “Cinderella,” the Queen of Hearts from “Alice in Wonderland,” Captain Hook from “Peter Pan,” Maleficent from “Sleeping Beauty,” Cruella De Vil from “One Hundred and One Dalmatians,” Ursula from “The Little Mermaid,” Gaston from “Beauty and the Beast” and Scar from “The Lion King”; and

• 2021’s Star Wars Droids collection, with IG-11, R2-D2, C-3PO, K-2SO, D-O, L3-37, 2-1B, BB-8, GNK and the Chopper.

“These selections highlight the artistry, humor and emotional resonance that make a tiny stamp capable of capturing a big story,” the article says.

The Stamps Forever website expects to run five installments in its “Stamp Encore Celebration” series — the fifth and final entry will be a deep dive into the winner.
