Scanning snapshot. The Postal Service’s national scanning rating was 97.72 percent during the week ending May 31, down from one week earlier.
Western (98.01 percent) led the areas, while Dakotas (99.14 percent) topped the districts.
Scanning allows customers to track their packages and mail, and it helps USPS improve efficiency and network management.

Semiannual report. The Office of Inspector General (OIG) completed 1,199 investigations during the six-month period that ended March 31.
These investigations led to 396 arrests and almost $67 million in fines, restitutions and recoveries. This amount includes more than $26.5 million that was returned to the Postal Service.
The data is included in the OIG’s latest Semiannual Report to Congress, which notes USPS accepted 87 percent of the agency’s recommendations during the six-month period.
