The Postal Service will now highlight half-staff flag notifications on Blue, one of the organization’s employee intranet websites.
When USPS facilities are required to lower the U.S. flag to half-staff, a green bar will appear on the Blue front page.
Clicking the bar will take the user to a Link article that explains why flags should be lowered and for how long.
The Postal Service introduced this feature Nov. 4, when Link published an article explaining that flags should be lowered to honor Dick Cheney, the former vice president who died this week.
The USPS Administrative Support Manual has additional guidelines on U.S. flag display and maintenance.
