Postmaster General Louis DeJoy joined postmasters from around the country in St. Louis on Aug. 22 for the sixth national convention of the United Postmasters and Managers of America.
DeJoy took the opportunity to address the importance of the Delivering for America plan and to administer the oath of office to 70 newly minted postmasters.
“On behalf of the entire Postal Service, I congratulate these new postmasters on their new roles,” he said.
“Postmasters are important leaders of commerce in their local community, and I know each of these new postmasters is committed to delivering the reliable service Americans have come to expect from the Postal Service.”
Under a communications initiative that began this year, USPS is aiming to highlight the important role of postmasters and to integrate them more fully into the fabric of their communities.
Missouri is the latest state where DeJoy has administered the oath of office. He’s also done the honors in California, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, New Hampshire, Ohio, Vermont and Wisconsin.
