USPS has notified the Postal Regulatory Commission of plans to temporarily increase some package product prices for the peak holiday season.
If approved by the commission, the increases will affect Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express, First-Class Package Service, Parcel Select, USPS Retail Ground and Parcel Return Service.
International products won’t be affected.
The temporary price bump would go into effect Oct. 3 and remain in place until Dec. 26.
Delivering for America, the Postal Service’s 10-year plan for achieving financial sustainability, calls for appropriate pricing initiatives.
The seasonal adjustment will bring prices for the organization’s commercial and retail customers in line with competitive practices and aims to provide USPS with the revenue to cover extra costs should holiday volume surge as it did in 2020.
