Two carriers’ tips bring in $892,000

Rich Vennera, a Philadelphia District senior sales representative, addresses letter carriers at the Eagleville, PA, Post Office to thank them for their participation in Customer Connect.

The Eagleville, PA, Post Office celebrated last month’s Customer Connect Day by honoring two carriers whose leads have resulted in almost $892,000 in new revenue for the Postal Service.

Customer Connect Day took place on Nov. 17 and focuses on the joint program between USPS and the National Association of Letter Carriers that encourages carriers to identify sales opportunities for the Postal Service.

Letter Carrier Drew Ritchie recently submitted two leads through Customer Connect that brought in combined revenue of $604,610.

One lead was for a golf apparel company that was looking to eliminate surcharges and enhance customer delivery expectations. A business development specialist followed up with the company and signed a shipping deal worth $309,860.

Ritchie’s second lead was for a cleaning supply company that was unhappy with the service provided by another shipper and was also looking for better rates and improved shipping times.

This lead resulted in a shipping deal worth $294,750.

Carrier Technician Donald Felice Jr. submitted a lead for a company that sells exfoliators and body sponges. The lead resulted in a shipping deal worth $287,370.

Revenue generated from Customer Connect leads is counted toward the USPS Power of One campaign to raise revenue through sales leads from employees.

“Drew and Donald served their customers well by noticing that they could get better service from USPS,” said Mary Anderson, small-business engagement director at USPS headquarters in Washington, DC. “It is important that we recognize the efforts of all our carriers who help drive new revenue for the Postal Service.”
