The Postal Service wants employees who feel particularly challenged during the coronavirus pandemic to know that the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available to help.
EAP is a voluntary, confidential and free service that can help USPS employees overcome challenges that affect their health, family life and job performance.
For more than a year, EAP has offered state-of-the-art telehealth options that allow employees to receive counseling services online — a particularly useful benefit during the pandemic, when many people are quarantined in their homes.
Here’s an overview of some key EAP offerings:
- Video counseling, a service that allows employees to meet with an EAP counselor through a video call
- Online counseling, a service that offers professional counseling anytime, anywhere, through a computer, tablet or smartphone
- myStrength, a highly interactive, individually tailored application that helps users address topics like opioid recovery, depression, insomnia, mindfulness, anxiety and chronic pain
- Live webinars that explore topics from emotional intelligence to navigating personal challenges
Additionally, EAP recently added new information sheets to its “Coronavirus: Enduring an Unprecedented Situation” series.
The new additions address topics such as coping strategies for children, helping a co-worker cope with loss, handling stress at home, grieving our former lives and more.
