Happy birthday! The Postal Service is continuing to honor the 105th birthday of Raymond Chavez, the oldest known Pearl Harbor survivor.

San Diego District employees, along with community members, gathered at the Poway, CA, Post Office last week for a special surprise celebration of the veteran’s life and military service.

Chavez was presented with a plaque, artwork from a 1991 stamp that commemorated the attack at Pearl Harbor, a giant birthday card signed by employees, and tributes from community leaders.

“It’s an honor to have you all here,” Chavez said. “I stopped counting birthdays a long time ago.”

Safe and secure. The Postal Service is reminding employees of the five keys for physical security. An informational sheet that can be posted on employee bulletin boards is available on LiteBlue.
