Scanning snapshot. The Postal Service’s national scanning rating was 97.65 percent during the week ending Jan. 27, up from one week earlier.
Dakotas (98.82 percent) topped the districts, while Western (97.97 percent) led the areas.
Scanning allows customers to track their packages and mail. It also helps the Postal Service improve efficiency and network management.
Scores and standings change continually. To see the latest results, go to the Enterprise Analytics site and select “Scanning” on the left hand side, and then “DES 2 — Scan Performance” from the drop-down options.
Red all over. Reminder: The Postal Service is inviting employees to participate in National Wear Red Day, an initiative to raise awareness of heart disease, Feb. 3.
Employees are required to follow their facility’s dress code in the USPS Employee and Labor Relations Manual, Section 930, Uniform Program.

Treasure hunting. The co-authors of “Stamp of the Century,” a new book on the famous Inverted Jenny stamp, are sharing the story behind their research.
Deborah Fisher and Kellen Diamanti describe their efforts in a new post on the National Postal Museum’s blog.
The writers relied heavily on the Washington, DC, museum’s library, as well as other archives in the area.
“It was, indeed, three weeks of treasure-hunting heaven,” Kellen writes.
