Conference highlights professional development

Gateway District Manager Charles Miller speaks at the recent career conference.

More than 100 Postal Service employees received career advice at a recent conference in Springfield, IL.

Gateway District organized the weekend meeting, which included workshops on “building your brand,” career planning and job interviewing skills, along with a networking event where employees met USPS leaders.

Other highlights included remarks from Great Lakes Area VP Jakki Krage Strako, Gateway District Manager Charles Miller and other executives.

“The Postal Service offers opportunities if you have the skill and desire to learn,” Miller said.

Career conferences, which USPS districts organize throughout the nation, are part of the Postal Service’s broader emphasis on workforce development.

Participants at the Springfield meeting expressed appreciation for the opportunity to explore new career paths.

“It was wonderful to see so many managers and leaders enthusiastic about their positions and the opportunities within the Postal Service,” said St. Louis Letter Carrier Clifton Brookings.
