Some of the nation’s top professional athletes are relying on the Postal Service to share the holidays with their loved ones.
In a series of USPS-sponsored videos on the Post Game sports site, athletes such as Oakland Raiders defensive end Justin Tuck and Golden State Warriors forward Harrison Barnes are seen receiving care packages through Priority Mail.
Tuck’s segment shows his father and sister mailing gifts from his hometown of Kellyton, AL, where the family still lives. The package — which includes his grandmother’s prized Christmas recipes — are mailed on Monday and arrive at Tuck’s San Francisco home Thursday.
The Barnes video shows him receiving a gift from a young cancer patient whom Barnes befriended through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
In the other videos, Charlotte Hornets forward Cody Zeller receives a gag gift from a mentor, while Denver Broncos tight end Owen Daniels is surprised with a sentimental present from his wife and young son.
The “Holiday MVPs” series is part of a broader Priority Mail promotional campaign that also includes TV commercials and segments on Rachael Ray’s talk show.
