USPS website continues to explore candidates in the Stamp Encore contest

Last summer, USPS customers voted for their favorite stamps issued between 1997 and 2022.

The Postal Service will reissue the winning release — which will remain top secret until May —as part of the organization’s 250th anniversary celebration.

As a countdown to the big reveal at the Boston 2026 World Expo philatelic show, the USPS Stamps Forever website is exploring some of the 25 releases in the contest.

The second installment in the “Stamp Encore Celebration” series spotlights the contest’s Warner Bros. releases:

• 1997’s Bugs Bunny featuring the animated rabbit leaning on a mailbox with a carrot in hand;

• 2006’s DC Comics Super Heroes, featuring portraits of Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Supergirl and Plastic Man in a 20-design pane;

• 2015’s Batman, featuring four versions of Batman drawn from different comic book eras, paired with four “bat-signals” that trace the evolution of his character; and

• 2016’s Wonder Woman, featuring four portraits of the Amazon princess from different comic book eras, emphasizing both her physical power and her sense of purpose.

“From Bugs Bunny’s easygoing cleverness to the larger-than-life presence of DC Comics Super Heroes, these Stamp Encore selections show how familiar characters have entertained generations and captured the imagination of fans young and old,” the article says.

The Stamps Forever website expects to run five installments in its “Stamp Encore Celebration” series — the fifth and final entry will entail in-depth coverage of the winner.

Driving a Postal Service vehicle?

Wear your seat belt and don’t eat, drink or use your mobile device

A rural carrier assistant was seriously injured recently when they lost control of their Postal Service vehicle, which veered off the road and flipped several times.

The employee was not wearing a seat belt and ended up pinned beneath the vehicle.

The accident left them with a fractured jaw, ribs and pelvis, among other injuries.

The Postal Service is reminding employees to:

• Always wear a seat belt because it saves lives;

• Not eat, drink or use mobile devices while the vehicle is in motion.

• Stay alert and comfortable during long routes.
