She will oversee 33.6 million delivery points
Raj Sanghera has been named Central Area vice president, a role she has held on an acting basis since January.
She succeeds Eric E. Henry, who retired in 2024.
Sanghera oversees delivery and retail operations across 14 states serving around 76 million customers. Central Area has more than 11,500 Post Offices and 33.6 million delivery points.
She has previously served as acting vice president for retail and Post Office operations, California 1 District manager, acting director of the Tier 1 Post Office support team, senior plant manager at the San Francisco Processing and Distribution Center, and San Francisco postmaster.
Sanghera joined USPS in 1989 as a letter carrier and entered management as a customer service supervisor, holding a number of positions in the San Jose, CA, and San Francisco areas.

From television to stamps
USPS to honor entertainer and animal advocate Betty White
The Postal Service will release its Betty White stamp on Thursday, March 27.
The late American actress and comedian — whose career spanned 60 years — was often referred to as the “first lady of television.”
White (1922-2021) received five Primetime Emmy Awards for her work, as well as three Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Grammy Award and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
She was also a lifelong activist recognized for her animal welfare work.
The stamp features a digitally created portrait of White based on a photograph taken by Kwaku Alston in 2010. Greg Breeding, an art director for USPS, designed the stamp with original art by Dale Stephanos.
USPS will dedicate the stamp at the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens.
The Forever stamp will be available at Post Offices and usps.com.

Safe driver award nominations close soon
The deadline for submissions is April 30
The National Safety Council is accepting nominations for the 2025 Joseph M. Kaplan Safe Driver Award until Wednesday, April 30.
The award recognizes USPS drivers who have driven for 15 years or for 100,000 miles without a preventable collision.
Nominees must be full-time drivers whose primary responsibility is to operate motor vehicles on a regular basis to perform their normal duties.
Any USPS facility may nominate drivers for the award, which is named for a longtime safety advocate who served as president of the council’s Southern California chapter.
Winners will be announced in June.
The nomination form and more information is available on the council’s website.
