Driving a Postal Service vehicle?

Wear your seat belt and don’t eat, drink or use your mobile device

Employees should always wear a seat belt while driving or riding in a vehicle.

A rural carrier assistant was seriously injured recently when they lost control of their Postal Service vehicle, which veered off the road and flipped several times.

The employee was not wearing a seat belt and ended up pinned beneath the vehicle.

The accident left them with a fractured jaw, ribs and pelvis, among other injuries.

The Postal Service is reminding employees to:

• Always wear a seat belt because it saves lives;

• Not eat, drink or use mobile devices while the vehicle is in motion.

• Stay alert and comfortable during long routes.
