Ellen Webster is possibly the world’s most prolific writer of thank-you notes. As Link reported last week, she has penned more than 10,000 of them, sending them on to anyone whom she feels “lifts, expands or connects us.”
Not surprisingly, she’s a big fan of USPS.
“If I had the addresses of every postal worker, you’d each get a note of gratitude. It might take a while, but that’s how important I know your work to be,” she said.
Link also brought you the story of a new toy mail truck designed for toddlers. The “foot-to-floor” vehicle is not mechanized but has light and sound and comes with a plastic mailbox and two envelopes.
In other playful news, the “People” column strayed from its species-specific focus to highlight Tiger JoJo, an orange tabby cat and social media star who recently appeared wearing a USPS uniform and “driving” a toy LLV.
“JoJo loves costumes and always crawls right into his outfits. He’s very serious about being a postal carrier,” said his owner, Christine Johansson.
We also reported on the latest stamp news: a new release to honor former President Jimmy Carter; two World Stamp Show releases that commemorate Boston’s pivotal role in the American Revolution and celebrate next year’s World Expo, which will be held in Beantown; and Luna Moth, a surcharge stamp that features one of North America’s largest moths.
And we offered a reminder on the ethics rules surrounding the use and misuse of postal vehicles.
Finally, “Heroes” told you about Carlos Greenway, a city carrier assistant who aided a customer who had fallen and broken a rib in Milan, TN.
