Retail Associate Aracely “Shelli” Hernandez was working at the Holt, MI, Post Office recently when she looked outside and noticed a child walking alone, heading toward a busy road.
Hernandez ran out of the building and brought the boy into the Post Office.
After law enforcement officers were summoned, Customer Services Supervisor Michael Barros noticed a man in front of the Post Office frantically searching for someone.
Barros offered assistance, and the man said he was looking for his nephew.
The child and his uncle were reunited, and no further action was taken by the officers.
Barros credited Hernandez for her “action and steadfast devotion to prevent what could have become a tragic loss.”
