USPS celebrates Thinking of You stamps

Cara Greene, the Postal Service’s controller and vice president, was the dedicating official at the ceremony.

The Postal Service dedicated its Thinking of You stamps at the Great American Stamp Show in Cleveland on Aug. 11.

“Think, for a moment, how wonderful it feels to receive a card for the special milestones in life — birthdays, holidays, birth announcements, invitations to weddings and parties, and everything we love to celebrate with our friends and loved ones,” said Cara Greene, the Postal Service’s controller and vice president, who spoke at the ceremony.

“We hope these stamps will encourage you to dash off a quick note to brighten someone’s day. After all, nothing else cultivates a romance, nurtures a friendship or helps you stay connected like a handwritten card or letter,” she said.

Joining Greene were Scott English, executive director of the American Philatelic Society; Jennifer Miller, executive director of the American Topical Association; Greg Breeding, an art director for USPS; and Christina Esbeck, a stamp collector and youth exhibitor.

Dawn Hamman, president of the American Topical Association, served as master of ceremonies.

The stamps were designed by Breeding. Illustrator Ellen Surrey created the original artwork, which include flowers, balloons, cute animals, sweet treats and symbols of good luck.

The Forever stamps are available in panes of 20 at Post Offices and usps.com.
