Morland Garcia, a letter carrier, was recently delivering mail in Boca Raton, FL, when he spotted an older customer in distress.
The man, who is recovering from a stroke, had just had a regular medical appointment, after which his partner would normally be waiting for him.
On this day, however, his partner needed to take her mother to an appointment at the same time.
The customer had been instructed to call his partner to pick him up, but he became disoriented by the change in routine and instead wandered off into the surrounding neighborhood.
Garcia came to the man’s aid, called his partner and remained on the scene until she got there.
The Postal Service later received a letter from the woman, who praised Garcia for his attentiveness and patience.
“He is a fine young man who was raised well by his family,” she wrote.
