Letter Carrier Dylan Becker was recently delivering mail in a Naperville, IL, neighborhood when he heard an older customer inside a residence banging on the front door.
Becker opened the mail slot to talk to the man, who said he was locked in and needed help.
The Postal Service employee knew that a member of the customer’s family lived nearby, so he went there but found no one at home.
Becker returned to the man’s residence, called 911 and comforted him until emergency responders arrived.
It was soon determined that the customer had collapsed from a stroke, and he was rushed to a hospital.
The man was expected to recover from the incident.
