It was a summer Friday last year during Irish Fest, a major event in Milwaukee, when Andrew Gebhardt spotted trouble.
The letter carrier was training at a driving skills course when he saw an older vendor fall at the adjacent festival site.
Gebhardt rushed to help the woman, whose forehead was bleeding profusely.
The Postal Service employee administered first aid, asked festival staff to contact the event’s medical personnel, and comforted the vendor until they arrived.
Gebhardt returned to Irish Fest the following day as an attendee and saw the woman, who thanked him and told him she received 12 stitches at an emergency room after the incident.
