Letter Carrier Sarah Stevens was recently making deliveries in an Oskaloosa, IA, neighborhood when she grew concerned about an older customer whose mail was piling up unusually.
Stevens alerted the local Post Office, and police were asked to check on the man.
Officers found him stranded on the floor inside his home, where he’d fallen five days earlier, and paramedics were dispatched to the scene to take him to a hospital.
The customer’s sisters, who live out of town, later mailed a note to Stevens.
“Thank you so very much,” they wrote. “You saved a life, an incredible deed.”
