Rural Carrier Associate Myckel Buford was recently delivering mail in an O’Fallon, IL, neighborhood when he heard an older customer yelling for help outside a residence.
Buford rushed to check on the man, who is disabled and couldn’t aid his wife, who had fallen in their garage.
The Postal Service employee safely lifted the woman, who declined immediate medical attention.
She later mailed a letter to the local Postmaster.
“The young man who got me up on my feet was strong and helpful,” the woman wrote. “We are so very appreciative to him for helping us out.”
She added: “I certainly wanted to thank him and also to let his employer know that he is a valuable employee at the Post Office.”
