City Carrier Assistant Brandon Dickinson was recently delivering mail in a Peoria, IL, neighborhood when he encountered two customers experiencing a crisis at their home.
As Dickinson approached the residence, a woman flung open the front door, frantically seeking help for her husband, who had collapsed on stairs inside.
The Postal Service employee reassured the woman, who had called 911 on a speakerphone, and calmly followed the dispatcher’s instructions to get ready for paramedics.
Dickinson positioned the unconscious man more comfortably, found no pulse and prepared him for CPR.
Paramedics arrived momentarily and took over, performing CPR on the man until a pulse was detected.
They rushed him to a hospital for further treatment.
