The Postal Service will soon honor districts that are role models in creating safe workplaces.
The Safety Vision and Leadership Awards, which USPS introduced last year, will be presented again in the fall. The awards honor districts that exceed requirements in maintaining safe workplaces based on key criteria, such as reducing accident rates and improving performance compared with the same period one year earlier.
The awards are part of the Safety Intervention and Recognition Program, which the Postal Service began in 2019 to monitor, assist and recognize safety performance in order to drive implementation of best practices throughout the organization.
“Safety is a core value of the Postal Service,” said Linda DeCarlo, occupational safety and health senior director. “Through the Safety Vision and Leadership Awards, we want to honor those districts that inspire, engage and empower their employees to solve safety-related issues and model safe work practices.”
The districts that will receive awards this year will be announced in October and honored during a virtual ceremony featuring USPS executives. Each district’s representative will receive a trophy along with a certificate of achievement and banners to display in their district’s workplaces.
