Thank a Mailman Day arrived Feb. 4, allowing customers to express their appreciation — especially on social media.
On Facebook, a USPS message thanking employees was seen by more than 1.4 million people — a record for the Postal Service’s page.
On Twitter, letter carriers and rural carriers received praise from a school in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, a public library in Coolidge, AZ, and even the Zappos online shoe store.
Employees were also thanked on a somewhat quainter medium: TV.
“We want to thank all the men and women of the U.S. Postal Service who work six days a week, rain or shine. We appreciate you,” meteorologist Henry DiCarlo said during KTLA’s morning newscast in Los Angeles.
Not to be outdone, USPS employees showed customers the admiration is mutual.
“I like being out and doing the job and meeting people and delivering the mail,” said Albert, MN, Letter Carrier Dale Meyer, who was profiled by local TV station KTTC.
