The Postal Service wants employees and contractors to take extra security precautions when using USPS-issued computers to telework from home.
For instance, connecting a personal printer wirelessly or by cable to a postal computer might seem relatively innocuous. However, because the printer is not secured, it could put the USPS network at risk.
Similarly, plugging personal storage devices or mobile phones into USPS computers could cause an unintended transfer of postal information, further undermining network security.
To protect the network, the CyberSafe at USPS team offers the following tips:
• Plug only USPS-approved devices into postal equipment.
• Only use wall outlets or a portable chargers to power personal devices.
• Avoid public charging stations because they are sometimes compromised by cybercriminals.
Remember: USPS-issued computers connect to the postal network and should only be used for postal business.
