Rural Carrier Albert Tovar Jr. was delivering mail one day last summer in Floydada, TX, when he heard someone yelling for help.
Tovar soon encountered a customer who had fallen on a concrete walkway while watering her flowers, leaving her injured, overheated and weak after being stranded in a muddy flower bed for almost an hour.
The Postal Service employee immediately called 911, and he was soon joined by two colleagues working nearby, including Rural Carrier Associate Benita Longoria, who helped render first aid and contact the woman’s family members.
Paramedics soon arrived and took the customer to a hospital, where surgery was performed to treat her broken hip.
The woman is recovering from the incident.
