Carrier Technician Robert Doppler was recently delivering mail in San Ramon, CA, when he spotted an 81-year-old customer who had fallen near her mailbox and struck her head.
Doppler and another passerby stopped to help the woman, whose mobility is affected by Parkinson’s disease.
While paramedics were dispatched to the scene, they rendered first aid to slow the customer’s bleeding and comforted her.
Members of her family later mailed a letter to the local Post Office, acknowledging Doppler’s assistance.
“To us, she is a wife, a mother of three, grandmother of 11 and great-grandmother of three, and you are a hero,” they wrote. “We can’t thank you enough.”
The customer is recovering from the incident.
