Retail Associate Lisa Oyler was recently on duty in Grain Valley, MO, when she encountered Patrice Thompson, a customer struggling to breathe.
While a colleague offered Thompson a seat, Oyler called the local police department, which dispatched paramedics to the scene.
The customer was taken to a hospital, where she was treated for respiratory failure resulting from double pneumonia and admitted to an intensive care unit for five days.
“Thank you so much for all your assistance in getting the medical attention I needed,” Thompson later wrote in a letter to the Grain Valley Post Office. “I was much sicker than I realized.”
She added, “I can never repay your kindness. God bless you.”
