Letter Carrier Donna Fletcher was recently making deliveries in Gillespie, IL, when she grew concerned about an older customer whose mail was piling up.
Fletcher alerted the local police department, and an officer soon discovered that the woman, who lived alone, had suffered a stroke.
The customer was rushed to a hospital.
“It could have been much longer before she was found if not for the care and attention Donna displayed,” said local Postmaster Leila Spickerman.
The customer died the following week.
