Western was the area leader in scanning during the week ending Aug. 24, while Dakotas finished first among the districts.

Scanning snapshot. The Postal Service’s national scanning rating was 97.91 percent during the week ending Aug. 24, up from one week earlier.

Dakotas (99.24 percent) topped the districts, while Western (98.07 percent) led the areas.

Scanning allows customers to track their packages and mail, and it helps USPS improve efficiency and network management.

Holiday operations. The Postal Service is providing general operating policy and planning guidance for the Labor Day holiday, which will be observed Monday, Sept. 3.

A new memo, available on Blue, explains guidelines for delivery, retail, processing and logistics operations.

Flag notice. Reminder: President Trump has ordered flags flown at half-staff to honor U.S. Sen. John McCain, who died last week.

Flags should be flown at half-staff until sunset Sunday, Sept. 2, the day of interment.
