When St. Paul, MN, Letter Carrier Georgia Ramin puts down her mail satchel at the end of the work day, she picks up a guitar and cuts loose.
Ramin performs as Miss Georgia Peach, lead guitarist and vocalist for Beebe Gallini, an all-female, 1980s-style garage band.
The group’s style is reminiscent of Blondie and the Clash, while Ramin’s twang evokes Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton.
“There’s a little tiny yodel in my voice,” Ramin tells the latest edition of “Your Postal Podcast.”
Ramin, who was profiled recently by the local television series “Minnesota Original,” loves her job. “I can totally be myself at the Post Office,” she says.
“Your Postal Podcast” also interviews Crestview, FL, Rural Carrier Anita Fee, subject of a recent Link article.
Although Fee’s right leg was amputated as a child and she walks using crutches, she has come to the aid of several customers during her postal career.
“I do not let my handicap limit me,” Fee says. “Push yourself to succeed, and if that’s not the thing that works out for you, go to something else. I mean, just don’t give up.”
