Letter Carrier Jennifer Bertrand was recently delivering mail on a freezing day in Rouses Point, NY, when she discovered a little girl — clad only in pajamas — sobbing as she stood barefoot on the snow-covered ground outside a residence.
Bertrand picked up the 2-year-old and asked her what was wrong, and the toddler pointed to an open first-floor window above her.
“Did you fall?” Bertrand asked.
“Yes,” the frightened girl replied.
The Postal Service employee carried the child to the front door and located a caregiver before continuing on her route.
