Letter Carrier Thomas Tetterton was recently delivering mail in Eden, NC, when he saw something alarming.
An older woman was walking along a street, wearing nothing more protective than a cotton hoodie and one glove on a bitterly cold day.
Tetterton stopped to check on the woman, who appeared to be disoriented, and gave her his coat before alerting his supervisor and calling 911.
Emergency responders took the woman — who has Alzheimer’s disease and couldn’t provide her address — to a hospital, where she stayed until a caregiver could be located.
