Winona, MN, Letter Carrier Lisa Degnan knew that an older customer on her route checked for mail daily.
So it worried her when she recently noticed that the woman’s mailbox was filling up.
Degnan alerted local authorities, but she heard nothing more until she received a temporary forwarding order for that address.
Six months later, the customer called the local Post Office to stop the forward. She also wanted to know if her regular carrier, Degnan, had been working when it started.
The answer was yes, to which the woman replied, “Please tell her thank you. She saved my life.”
The customer explained that she had collapsed and was unable to move for several days when emergency responders found her, and she had now recovered and was able to return home.
