USPS reaches another performance milestone


Thirty-three districts scored 97 percent or higher in scanning last week, a new milestone for the Postal Service.

Portland (97.88 percent) ranked first among the districts, followed by Sacramento (97.8 percent) and Greater Boston (97.79 percent).

The other district pacesetters: Northern New England, Dakotas, San Diego, Western New York, Arkansas, Greater South Carolina, Northern Virginia, Alabama, Baltimore, Central Illinois, Central Plains, Greater Indiana, Greensboro, Gulf Atlantic, Hawkeye, Louisiana, Lakeland, Mid-America, Mid-Carolinas, Northland, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Rio Grande, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Seattle, Sierra Coastal, South Jersey, Western Pennsylvania and Suncoast.

Among the areas, Western (97.18 percent) ranked first, followed by Capital Metro (97.01 percent) and Eastern (96.89 percent).

The national scanning score was 96.78 percent, a slight increase from one week earlier.

Scanning allows customers to track their packages and other mail. It also helps the Postal Service improve efficiency and network management.
