Postal Service employees in New York and California recently responded to emergencies they encountered while delivering mail.
Buffalo, NY, Letter Carrier Richard Horn III had just dropped off a parcel when he saw an unfamiliar man grab it and flee.
Horn alerted police and safely monitored the suspect’s location until officers arrived, arrested the man and returned the package for redelivery.
In Gridley, CA, Rural Carrier Associate Christopher Cotter saw an older man with a broken arm take a spill outside his home.
Cotter helped the customer get to his feet and into a chair.
Both the man and his wife — who has trouble lifting him on her own — were grateful for Cotter’s assistance.
