Big goodbye. Garland Gralow, the Melrose Park, IL, letter carrier who recently retired after 60 years on the same route, received a grand sendoff from his co-workers.
The cart that Gralow used to carry mail was festooned with balloons, and he was photographed punching the clock for the final time.
Additionally, Gralow’s name was added to the Post Office’s “wall of fame,” along with two colleagues: Letter Carrier Vito Keaty and Customer Services Supervisor Robert Puoci.
Although some attendees joked that with 62 years of federal service — 60 with USPS, plus 2 years in the Army — Gralow makes Keaty (31 years) and Puoci (44 years) look like rookies.
Hurricane help. USPS employees can make financial contributions to the Postal Employees’ Relief Fund to help colleagues affected by the recent hurricanes.
This special solicitation is not part of the Combined Federal Campaign, the annual charity drive for federal workplaces.
