Desk gets new hours, office gets new name

NTK 0602 story
The Time and Attendance Collection System Help Desk will have new hours, beginning June 10.

Time for a change. The Postal Service is changing the hours for its Time and Attendance Collection System (TACS) Help Desk.

Beginning June 10, the new hours of operation will be 6 a.m.-8 p.m. Central time, Monday-Saturday. The TACS Help Desk is closed Sundays.

If you need assistance outside the new hours, the Postal Service suggests calling 855-411-8227 to leave a voicemail. You can also send an email to TACS@usps.gov.

A TACS Help Desk agent or supervisor will respond within 24 hours. The TACS Help Desk Blue page has more information.

Good ol’ Rocky Top. The Lake City, TN, Post Office recently changed its name to Rocky Top to match the town it serves.

The town — which has an estimated population of about 1,760 —  changed its moniker in 2014 based on the popularity of the 1960s bluegrass standard “Rocky Top.”

The Post Office commemorated its name change with a special postcard that reads “Rocky Top, Tennessee 37769” and a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by customers and community leaders.

This is the second time the town has changed its name in a bid to attract tourists. Before Rocky Top was Lake City, it was Coal Creek.
