Native American Heritage Month, which honors American Indians and Alaska Natives, begins Nov. 1. This year’s theme is “Serving Our Nations.”
The observance is held each November to celebrate the cultures, histories, traditions and contributions of American Indians and Alaska Natives.
USPS employs more than 4,000 individuals who identify themselves as American Indian or Alaska Natives. The American Indian and Alaska Native population in the United States is about 5.2 million, according to U.S. Census data.
“American Indians and Alaska Natives enrich our nation and make valuable contributions to the Postal Service and the communities we serve,” said Employee Resource Management VP Nancy Rettinhouse. “We are proud to honor these contributions and participate in this observance.”
