Staying calm in an emergency isn’t easy — just ask Shannon Fager.
The Colorado Springs, CO, city carrier assistant was recently honored for safely completing her route during a heavy downpour that led to flash flooding.
Fager was careful to avoid dangerous areas and managed to finish deliveries to all her customers.
National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 204 President Mark Robbins and Colorado Springs Postmaster Sam Reed presented Fager with a #PostalProud shirt for her dedication.
“Safety and customer service are our top priorities. You can’t truly practice one without the other,” said Fager.
She is happy she finished the job, but even happier about what happened next.
“All the mail got delivered that day as expected and I also went home safe to my kids.”
